Week 11 - Real World Volunteering

This week I want you to watch the Ted Talks videos from the O'Neil Sisters, Dyan deNapoli & Mark Bezos. Their talks will leave you with some inspiration and food for thought. Share your reactions this week. No formal question - just your thoughts!

I know for me the following words stick with me after watching: Passion. Don't Wait. Grab the Shoes. Penguin by Penguin.

Week 8 Discussion

Welcome Summer 2014 Group! I hope you find the blog an interesting format to discuss in and a possible venue for you to promote your volunteerism.

First Question - What technology formats interest you in terms of volunteering? How might you or are you using it? Can you share examples?

Second Question - Have you experienced any risk during a volunteer opportunity? What happened? How was it resolved? What has changed?

Explore some of the technology use by these organizations!

Week 3 - Blog Discussion

I want to share with you a struggle I've had this year with student members of the Collegiate FFA. We have a great turn out at the beginning of the  year, but towards the middle of the year we are down on the number of students who want to help with any of our volunteer projects and activities. I am chalking it up to a bad year - but wonder if I need to do something more to help students understand the importance of involvement in college life, clubs and volunteering.

Perhaps I should create a 'marketing' plan for Collegiate FFA?

Thoughts?

New Semester…New Students…Hello Summer 2014

This Blog serves as an opportunity for students to visit outside of Canvas - this blog is an informal way to regularly communicate with your peers. If using for a volunteer program it is easily maintained, frequently updated, and can provide links to information that is easily accessible.

We began using this blog in the Summer of 2012 as a way to provide an additional outlet for students to share - rather than through the traditional Canvas discussion board.

Please take a minute to scroll through the blog, look at the pictures and read the Summer Class of 2012's discussion related to class.
